After you have set up your facebook fanpage, you want to track your conversions as well as visitors. Unlike a website, you can’t really use google analytics in your fanpage. You would need to use this special image php code that insert google analytics into your fanpage.

These are the steps for setting up a Google Analytics with facebook fan page.

First, You need to create a Fanpage profile in Google Analytics.

Once you are into your analytics account, you can add a new website profile. For the website’s URL, you just need to put Facebook.com will do.

Once the profile is created, you can copy the Analytics code UA-XXXXXX.

Next, Go to http://www.makeawebsitex.com/facebookanalytics. Simply copy the analytics code into your the information in there. and put the domain as http://www.facebook.com.

For the page link and page title, you can just type a name you want. Click on Generate Code and you will see the code appearing at the bottom.

Then, add the code to facebook Fanpage. You would need to have static FMBL in your fanpage.  (can be added either on top or below in the FBML page).

Note that Google Analytics would show that “tracking is not installed” as this isn’t using the original google analytics script. To make sure that you’ve installed it correctly, you would need to check it back the next day.
